About Our Church
Learn about our rich history, our mission, and the values that guide our community of faith in the Annapolis Valley.
Our Story
Woodville Baptist Church has stood as a cornerstone of faith in the Grafton and Woodville community since 1921. Located in the picturesque Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, our church has been a spiritual home for over a century — a place where generations of families have gathered to worship, learn, and grow together in Christ.
Our historic church building is a beautiful example of the Akron design, a distinctive architectural style characterized by its symmetrical structure with a centrally placed steeple on the gable end. The interior preserves many of its original features, including warm stained woodwork and traditional folding doors that divide the sanctuary from the gathering room — a testament to the craftsmanship and devotion of those who built it.
Woodville itself is a small, close-knit community of about 200 people nestled in Kings County. Our church has always been at the heart of this community, serving not only as a place of worship but as a gathering point for fellowship, celebration, and mutual support through all of life's seasons.
Over the decades, Woodville Baptist Church has remained faithful to its founding vision: to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to nurture believers in their faith, and to serve the community with love and compassion. While much has changed in the world around us, our commitment to these principles remains as strong as ever.
Our Mission & Vision
Guided by Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to fulfil God's calling in our community and beyond.
🎯 Our Mission
To love God wholeheartedly, to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ through faithful preaching and teaching, and to serve our neighbours with compassion and grace. We are committed to making disciples who know Christ, grow in Christ, and go for Christ.
We believe every person matters to God, and therefore every person matters to us. Our mission is lived out through weekly worship, discipleship programmes, community service, and personal ministry that meets people right where they are.
🔭 Our Vision
To be a vibrant, growing church that reflects the love of Christ to every person in the Annapolis Valley and beyond. We envision a community where people of all ages and backgrounds find hope, healing, and a sense of belonging.
We aspire to be known not only for what we believe, but for how we live — as people who genuinely love God and sacrificially love others, making a tangible difference in our community through acts of faith, kindness, and service.
Our Beliefs
As a Baptist church, we hold to the historic Christian faith as revealed in the Bible, the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired, infallible Word of God and the supreme authority for faith and practice in the life of every believer.
Salvation Through Faith
We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through personal faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again.
Believer's Baptism
We practise believer's baptism by immersion as an outward expression of an inward faith — a public declaration of one's commitment to follow Christ.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer, guides us into truth, and empowers us for service, worship, and daily Christian living.
The Local Church
We believe in the importance of the local church as a body of baptized believers, gathering regularly for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.
The Great Commission
We believe in sharing the Gospel at home and around the world, supporting missions, and encouraging every believer to be a witness for Christ.
Our Church Family
At the heart of Woodville Baptist Church is a warm, welcoming congregation that feels more like a family than an institution. Our members come from all walks of life, united by a shared love for Christ and a genuine care for one another.
We believe that church is not just a place you go on Sundays — it is a family you belong to every day of the week. Whether sharing a meal after service, gathering for a midweek Bible study, visiting a neighbour in need, or celebrating a milestone together, our church family is always there for each other.
New visitors often remark on the warm atmosphere and friendly faces that greet them at our door. If you are looking for a church home in the Annapolis Valley, we invite you to come and experience the genuine hospitality and heartfelt fellowship of Woodville Baptist Church.
